Gunning for the lucrative Q-anon market, I see.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that the majority of that crowd are probably unaware of the movie's existence.

Looks like Fox did a 4K scan on this film. The grading is not unlike those of Bigger Than Life, River of No Return, Hajji Baba, Desk Set and other early Scope features.

I don't know what's happenning with those (and you can add a few others to this list, like Wild River, The Blue Max, Desk Set, ...), but it does look like Fox is having some kind of institutional way to grade those movies. Do they have a common thing that would explain such a choice ?

No. Fox restorations have had colour issues for years (at least IMHO), most are noticeably blue pushed.

One plus of the new remaster is that they have fixed the mumps/squishing.

That's my understanding too, but I'm not particularly knowledgeable about Fox productions and wondered if they might have shared some post-production processes at the time.

Strangely on the front cover a 30-year-old Dreyfuss has been given black hair with a lot of gray in it. Compared to the accurate brown hair on the back cover, this was hard not to notice.

Any opinions on The Big Fix? I was considering a blind buy.

I actually just saw this a few weeks ago. It's an enjoyable, if insignificant neo-noir with some excellent footage of 80s Los Angeles. It's also maybe part of the first wave of boomer cinema (which I have a weird soft spot for) that looks back on the 60s with rose-tinted glasses and that would culminate with Forest Gump. But it's never cutesy or mystifying like Forest Gump and really nails in the failures of the 60s via Richard Dreyfuss' uncouth, divorced, failure detective and F. Murray Abraham's sell-out. Dreyfuss' mother, a geriatric ex-communist who still believes in the cause, really steals the few scenes she's in and is almost worth watching for here. It's an interesting variation on The Long Goodbye's playfulness with various intersecting groups and classes colliding, but no wear near the level of mastery that film achieves with a director like Robert Altman.

Thanks so much. That’s about what I expected, but I have a real soft spot for shaggy detective stories, so will probably pick up during one of their sales.

The front cover art's from the original poster. Maybe Fox did the color grading.

I’m somewhat baffled by why it takes so long for something like a major studio 4K restoration of a film like Warlock (1959) to see light of day on home video. Apparently this was screened at a 2015 BFI festival, so has been available for quite some time.

I'm pretty sure there's a German blu-ray of it, since it's a Hollywood western and seemingly all of them come out in Germany first! Baby the Rain Must Fall is okay, but not exactly a title that screams out for a $30 upgrade. Morituri is really mean-spirited and "adult" in a nauseating way, def not one of the better war pics to come out in this era. Haven't seen Bandolero but it sure seems like something KL would have been happy to release at 1/3 the price

I really rate Baby The Rain Must Fall, I will get it in a sale unless Indicator also announce it.

Re Warlock, the german blu ray is from an older Fox master. Expect the new Fox 4k restoration to be noticeably blue pushed and darker.

Unfortunately that's another Fox title that's been slathered in teal.
