The Mandalorian

#1 Post by domino harvey » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:58 pm

Convention footage of Disney’s Star Wars series the Mandalorian, starring Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte, and Werner Herzog. Looks to be firmly in the Rogue One mode, but the guy filming sure seemed into it!

This show has an all-around odd cast/crew list - Bill Burr, Carl Weathers, and Taika Waititi are also in it, and Bryce Dallas Howard directed at least one episode.

The reports of the footage sound promising as it seems Favreau and his collaborators were very intentional about leaning into the samurai and Western movie roots of Star Wars, but since I refuse to subscribe to Disney +, I guess I will never see this.

The trailer looks good, and feels like a movie, but not enough for me to subscribe.

I would certainly watch this if it turned out Herzog was playing an in universe documentary filmmaker interviewing all of the characters in his inimitable style!
