I can't wait to see his take on Howard the Duck.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel wasn't prepping a way to shoehorn Howard into Guardians of the Galaxy or some other part of their cinematic universe. The newest comic series is pretty clever and is doing well.

Well, he's already been in it played by Seth Green.

If Howard the Duck is too plausible of a reclamation project, then change my reference to Cutthroat Island. Which ... actually sounds kinda awesome.
Yeah, I'd watch a Villaneuve pirate movie.

Howard's original tagline is a strangely prefect encapsulation of Villeneuve's filmic landscape: "Trapped in a world he never made!"Brian C wrote:I can't wait to see his take on Howard the Duck.

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201X)
I'm so happy we dodged a bullet with Peter Berg directing this

Being adapted by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Forrest Gump screenwriter Eric Roth - well, if THAT doesn't get everyone's enthusiasm up, I don't know what will

Surely Villeneuve being replaced by Ron Howard would.

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201?)
Eric Roth co-wrote The Insider with Michael Mann but I realise that may not be saying much.

Also wrote Munich, which does say a lot.
Part of me wishes that somehow Nicolas Winding Refn got to do this, as he seemed to have the most enthusiasm for Jodorowsky's version in the documentary, short of Jodorowsky himself of course.

Roth also wrote The Nickel Ride, one of THE great neo-noirs. When given good material, he can craft more than serviceable screenplays.

I actually have a soft spot for Forrest Gump, just trying to get a discussion going. And it worked!

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201?)
Well, Tony Kushner was the co-writer and was even given a solo screenplay credit on the display posters before the film's release, so he could very well be the one responsible for the overall quality of the work. Kushner went on to work with Spielberg again on Lincoln.flyonthewall2983 wrote:Also wrote Munich, which does say a lot...

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201?)
The story on Munich to my understanding is that Roth did the first draft and then Kushner practically rewrote the whole thing. That Kushner got a screen credit at all given WGA rules speaks tons toward this.

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201?)
I have heard that Villeneuve substantially revised the Sicario script (supposedly it was originally a lot more expository), so given that Roth's best output involves similar circumstances, hopefully Villeneuve will have input here as well.

It would have been great to know how someone working for the FBI doing drug raids in Arizona was so surprised to find out that the drug industry has a seamier side

. Oh god her naivete knew no bounds. Not too shy about dealing death however. Also not clear why the FBI hired the headstrong dogooder for the position of lackey stooge...but there you have it.mfunk9786 wrote:It would have been great to know how someone working for the FBI doing drug raids in Arizona was so surprised to find out that the drug industry has a seamier side

Re: Dune (Denis Villeneuve, 201X)
Makes sense. The main failing of the Lynch adaptation was that after setting up the world in the excellent first half, it rushes through way too much plot in the second half.

Dave Bautista joins the cast. I somehow knew he'd be rewarded for his short but plentiful turn in BR 2049.

He was cast as Rabban Harkonnen; in my mind, he'd have been a great Gurney Halleck.
