I don't see how that is any worse than the Short Bus french poster. Those were up all over Paris.rohmerin wrote:New Jean Dujardin poster has been banned in France

It's been getting press coverage owing to Dujardin's Oscar nom. Some have seen it as potentially damaging his chances of a win, hence its removal.

Re: Movie Posters
That reminds me of an exceptionally juvenile idea my friends and I once had (spoilered for sheer stupidity):
SpoilerShow
it involved applying a sort of stencil to the end of a penis so that upon ejaculation it would distribute the semen in such a way that it would make an image or a word. We imagined customized monograph stencils would be popular, making it akin to branding a person or signing your work. I wouldn't normally mention this, but that poster is so absurd it merits the comparison.

Re: Movie Posters
Can anyone recommend a good place (either online or in a US chain store of some kind) to buy a 30x40 (UK quad) poster frame? We've had a MoC Double Indemnity poster in the tube it shipped in for a long while now, procrastinating from the task of framing it.

Re: Movie Posters
A.I. Friedman's pretty reliable, at least in New York. Are you getting the frame delivered or are you mailing it away for framing?mfunk9786 wrote:Can anyone recommend a good place (either online or in a US chain store of some kind) to buy a 30x40 (UK quad) poster frame? Re: Movie Posters
I'm looking to keep costs down. Typically I buy $20-ish black bordered frames of highly questionable quality from Walmart when I want to frame a 27x40 poster, and I'm ideally looking for something like that at 30x40.

Re: Movie Posters
Well, they sell frames very much like that (I have them on my apartment posters) and customize to one's specifications. I don't remember it being too, too expensive. It cost about $200 to frame four giant posters of varying size, and I opted for glass instead of plastic since it was the cheaper option (although a lot harder to frame by oneself; blood, sweat and tears went into my home decoration, man). Customer service is pretty good as well. They cater to galleries and Johnny Cinephile.

Re: Movie Posters
I can't find frames that size for shipping on their site, so I'll have to wait until I'm in NYC in September to pick one up. Thanks for the tip. If anyone has a recommendation that's less travel intensive, though, I'd love to hear it.

Re: Movie Posters
Well, just so you know, they probably won't have them in the store at NY, so call ahead and they'll get em ready for you by the time you get there (took about a week and a half for them to arrive from their warehouse). Which is what I'm sure you'd have done anyway, but, y'know, I didn't want to give the impression they just have your preferred size in stock.

Re: Movie Posters
Do you have a Blick Art Supplies store near you? They have 30 x 40 metal frames on their website ($52, though) and they may have them in-store (call first, obviously).

Re: Movie Posters
There are a couple in Philadelphia. That would definitely be a better option, price-wise, than having it framed by someone else. Exactly the sort of thing I was looking for - thanks!

Re: Movie Posters
What about for a bigger format than 70 x 100 cm. I've got some bigger that one and Ikea's not got any bigger.
