If anyone is interested, this is a film I assembled after a visit to an exhibition at The Getty. What I am proud of coming up with is using a combination of subtitles and borrowed dialog from a French film to create a sound film from essentially home video footage. As an amateur filmmaker, I am constantly shooting "stock footage" to one day use in a film, so every shot in the film I took myself, except for the credited slow motion lotus shot.

It's called "Within and Without" and runs under ten minutes. I would classify it as "experimental French New Wave science fiction."

Oh, and if you happen to speak French, the whole effect goes down the tube!

thanks for the response... I'm trying to get it into some festivals, but it's a hard sell for some (despite being 1min)
I'm working on a few new films (some narrative, some experimental) that I'll share when completed.

my latest film: https://youtu.be/4Sab8BLhAJY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
made as part of a new Exquisite Corpse feature compiled/directed by Salise Hughes.
the feature is titled A Tale of Two Cities: Portland & Seattle, and here is the trailer: https://vimeo.com/207007984" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My sequence (titled Corpse Quatrain) is (I think obviously) an homage to a couple of well known filmmakers (it should be pretty easy to tell which ones). Next time I need to get a "real" dolly and track, though.

Here's a horror short I made (it's a merciful seven minutes). There's an obvious homage/theft of BLOW-UP going on.

We won Best Film at the Knoxville Film Festival 7-Day Shootout a couple weeks ago.

Thanks.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to share a music video I edited together using layered Super 8mm images that I filmed in Austria and Malta a couple years ago. It's for the indie group Earthly Circuits, who I'd definitely recommend checking out.

Well it took two years but Driftwood has been officially released on iTunes via Slamdance Presents! It's also coming to Hulu on 12/1, so hopefully some board members can give our little, dialogue-free film a chance.

Dear all, I'd like to show you the new trailer for Blood's A Rover. It's a Scottish Neo Noir that I wrote, shot, edited and directed (I also did the sound design).

We are currently submitting to film festivals across the world, and to sales agents. I was inspired by Zodiac, Fire Walk With Me, and Festen, so imagine if you will, a blend of those three films with a Scottish accent thrown in.

Official trailer on Vimeo

#scottishneonoir #scottishfeaturefilm #mystery #crime #drama

Tagline: "Old sins cast long shadows"

Their traumas and their past catch up with Detective Chief Inspector David Boyd, psychiatrist Alan Torrance, his patient Blair Eadie and Eileen Ballantyne, the wife of a rich landowner. Cameron Brown, George McWilliam, Jacqueline Gilbride and Gordon Holliday star in Scotland's first neo noir, due for release in the late autumn/fall of 2019.

Here's a video essay that I just put together. Fans of Chantal Akerman, Ulrike Ottinger, Georges Perec and other underground/obscure cinematic delights may enjoy!

I'm finally brave enough to post a link for my short film A DREAM OF LIFE. This is only the beginning of what I feel will be a very fulfilling career as a filmmaker as I have many projects for music videos, television series and short/feature-length films in development.

A woman suffers a crisis of faith after discovering she is unable to have children. Details on IMDb.

I had to wait 10 years to make the following experimental feature film (there are good reasons why, I think, but they're hard to explain). I have showed it to some friends and family who have remarked "pretty shots! they're long!," "it sets up a reward system for the patient viewer," and "did you write this down, I don't think you wrote this down."

I like to watch movies alone in a dark room on a nice screen and with headphones on so I made a movie with that type of quietude in mind, but do watch it any way you please, I'm curious for all opinions. I want the viewer to question what the film and the filmmaker are up to with each moment and, in doing so, I have eschewed narrative. I don't currently have any plans for this piece so I might as well share it with you fine folks.

POOR JOE is a 7 minute short I wrote, directed, edited and did the sound design for over the last month or so. Genre is Suspense/Mystery/Psychological Horror

Plot: It’s Saturday and Joe Rosand is looking forward to some quality time off. But as the day goes on, a series of strange incidents makes Joe question his sanity.

I wanted to do a little suspense piece with no dialogue and instead place emphasis on visuals and sound. Hopefully some of you get something out of it. Be sure to watch in 1080p (we shot in 2048x1080 originally).

Hope you're all well, folks. Andrea Tante Hays (German waitress Heidi in Twin Peaks) and I made another short film together, called NOBODY CARES. Also connected, though more remotely, to Peaks is Adam Rosand, who is the nephew of the late Marv Rosand. Adam was executive producing the film with Andrea and me, and is the co-lead actor, as well as the set dresser and the designer of this beautiful poster.

NOBODY CARES was written, edited and directed by me, and I also did the sound design. It was inspired by a chapter in Patricia Highsmith's novel Tremor of Forgery, the Japanese horror anthology film KWAIDAN, film noirs and the mood in BBC adaptations of classic ghost stories like A Warning To The Curious. David Lynch's influence is most keenly felt in the sound design.
Hopefully you get something out of it. If you like it, it'd help us a lot if you give the film a Like on the Youtube page, perhaps even a comment (we'd love to hear what you think!) and share it with your friends and family. Have a great day!

I've got a new short film up on youtube. It is the first film that I directed remotely on Zoom, and it was shot using the cast's smartphones. It was either filming something now on smartphones and accept lower resolutions or wait for a few months and shoot on better cameras, and I preferred getting something done now while we're all still locked inside. The supporting cast includes Twin Peaks actors Mary Reber (Alice Tremond from Part 18) as the news reader and Andrea Hays (German waitress Heidi) as the praying woman. The movie is set against the background of the pandemic and the world is without electricity and running fast out of food, too. Mia is still reeling from a personal tragedy and turns to her friend Jack for help.

Goodbye To All That (7 mins) (Drama/Horror)

(I hope this link to the poster works; I can't figure out how to link to images!)

I am also branching out into nature shorts and walking tour videos. I love being in nature and capturing the landscapes and textures I see on my walks and travels. I shot it on my LG V60 THINQ in 4k at 30fps and in HDR. My hope is that people will find videos like this one a nice escape from the daily stress, and I plan to make many more.

So I've created a script based the idea of dreams and I was hoping to get someone to review it (I'm 13 so the only other contacts are family members who have general biases) and maybe share their thoughts. Script's below and you can comment or be as harsh as you want to be because your opinion is valid.

Hey bit of an silly/odd question but I figured it would fit in this thread but have there ever been any widely known directors that have been on this Forum. I know Richard W. Haines (of ‘Class of Nuke ‘Em High’ fame) was here once as a rather unpopular, Richard W., but I’m curious who else on this forum was/is one. Also to stay on topic, Finch I think you have a great sense of tone and atmosphere with your short films that I’ve seen and if I may ask, has Blood’s a Rover been available to watch anywhere, I wanted to check it out but it seems pretty hard to find. Thank you in advance.
