Gotta say, I was not expecting late Fassbinder lighting

Hollywood just needs to shut down completely after this.

That being said, it's been a while since I had a good laugh, so I will definitely be watching this train wreck.

She’d probably prefer not to have one of these

Why not just have actual costumes with some slight CG enhancement details instead of going mocap? The already narrow appeal isn't being broadened by this decision, which certainly has added enormously to the budget.

Like this sort of thing hasn't been happening since Disney's Robin Hood was released on VHS.

Finally, a movie inspired by Tim Burton's worst films.

It's pretty good set to the "I Got 5 On It" Remix from the Us trailer

Aside from everything else, holy god does that last bit near the lion statue look hideous. The rest of the CGI environs look fine (in contrast to the FaceApp monstrosities inhabiting them) but I've played video games with better graphical fidelity than that scene.

Man, even the Island of Dr Moreau movies look more convincing (including the Burt Lancaster one!)

A mix of Tom Hooper, actors/singers I dislike and Lloyd-Webber was never going to put this on my watchlist anyway tbh.

So am I the only one who thinks this will do gangbusters, then? I'm already mentally preparing myself for the Oscar noms and everyone I work with telling me how amazing it is.

I don't know, this really does look awful. But I've never seen the actual musical and I'm guessing it has its fans.

The internet is united in hating this right now. Whether that is representative of the public at large remains to be seen, but I think the studio is going to lose a lot of money on this

Oh, really? I’m sure the critical reception will be terrible, but I’d bet that it makes at least $300 million worldwide and gains enough awards traction through sheer force of publicist flexing to get Taylor Swift to attend a few ceremonies.

I think this movie will be successful regardless of whether it takes a critical panning. I do expect a Best Supporting Actor nod for Jason Derulo though.

I just think this is a case of an untranslatable musical. Making the cats "actual" using CGI looks garish and I don't really know who the target audience for this is. Also Tom Hooper being in charge makes me lose all confidence in this project as well.
But I bet my sister might be interested in this as she's a big Swift fan.

I think two hours of this would sell more tickets than whatever this movie is actually going to be

Taylor Swift nor this Cats movie does anything for me sexually and frankly I'm grateful.

It’s like adapting Swan Lake by turning the dancers into cgi swan-people. That’s not the point of Swan Lake and absolutely nobody wants to see that.

I’m not sure what’s worse about this trailer: the horrible CGI cat people, or Jennifer Hudson screaming Memory at the top of her lungs, which is the exact opposite of how that song should ever be performed. Also, shouldn’t Dame Judi Dench be the one playing the old dying cat, not young and vibrant Ms. Hudson?
