Hagazussa looks quite promising from its trailer! A bit Robert Eggers. And it looks as if The Wind *may be* doing similar things in wide open landscapes.

Why Don't You Just Die! is just about a normal day in Russia from the look of it.

I think it’s a different “The Wind”. The one in the trailer already has a region 1 release from IFC/Scream.

Ah, I was not sure if I had the right one! I'll remove the link to that then.

You were looking for the trailer for the far more stylish Nico Mastorakis film, Colin.
The Wind (1987)

Regarding that Arrow Video standard release of True Romance. OK it's an old master. But, is it a new encode? I read that the encode on the recent Sony release was abysmal, and let down a serviceable master. Does anyone have any knowledge?

Arrow have brought Flicker Alley film noir releases to their Academy line. Will they release the recent rescue job that was Richard Fleischer’s Trapped?

I don´t know but I certainly hope so,I had to buy Flicker Alley´s overpriced Man Who Cheated Himself because Arrow didn´t release it.

*** May Academy announcements update ***

Sadly, we have had to make the tough decision to not announce the titles we had planned for May this Friday. We feel it is best to hold these titles back than to prematurely reveal them (and then potentially have to delay the titles at a later date…). We promise you it will be worth the wait when you see the beauties announced.

We’ll of course be back in full swing with our June titles next month and rest assured the titles we had pencilled in for May will be moved to later months. So, whilst there will be no new announcements for Academy this month please rest assured, we have some exciting titled lined up for 2020 and beyond!

This smells a lot like some ATG to me.

What does "ATG" stand for in this context?

Rest assured, this is not indicative of any lack of commitment to Academy, it's just a perfect storm of things that have affected the two titles we had intended to announce on Friday. Extras and artwork are done, just a few things popped up or got delayed that meant we weren't 100% comfortable confirming specs this month. It shouldn't happen again, and rest assured there's lots of exciting stuff coming soon on the Academy front.

Art Theatre Guild of Japan. There's been speculation/hope for more releases from their catalog, and given the Jissoji delay, some precedent for this type of thing.

Yeah, Art Theater Guild. The Jissoji set, and as I recall Yoshida too to a lesser extent, had bumpy roads from announcement to release, so it seems to me the Academy would potentially delay more releases of that nature in order to make sure everything was set for an announcement. But, this also happened for the Godard and Guitry releases, so I could be barking up the wrong tree.

In any case, having to delay a batch of releases because of quality control only makes my excitement for the would-be May releases greater.

But I’ve already started turning the wheel on my basement bomb shelter’s enclosure door

I wonder if they'll get Mothra from Sony. Surprised that one hasn't appeared here yet!

I got the postcard for Le Voyage dans la Lune today, in my copy of Hotel du Nord. I know its been circulating for a while, but I wonder if this could be related to the delayed May surprise...

Bookletless releases of The Taisho Trilogy and The Stray Cat Rock Collection have popped up on MVD's site. Both appear to have their discs stored in a single keepcase (which, in the case of The Stray Cat Rock Collection, is a major upgrade.)

I've been eyeing the Female Prisoner Scorpion set. How does the Stray Cat Rock series stack up? Better or worse?

Better color grading of course, and the films are pretty fun. I don't have a problem with the original packaging for it either

I'm not sure if this question has been addressed elsewhere on the board, but are the Arrow Fassbinders going OOP ? I see that copies of Fox and his Friends are hard to come by these days, and a few of the Fassbinders were going for £5 in the recent Arrow-site sale ? I wasn't in much of a hurry to upgrade my old Arrow DVDs to BR but should I secure copies of The Marriage of Maria Braun and Effi Briest ?
