This show is an absolutely brilliant cartoon that's a refreshingly intelligent alternative to a lot of the offerings on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

And this is a must own on November 4th:

"Louis Louis" is definitely my favorite parody: "Oh, Louis, we are both great great men!"

This show is one of the best on AS, which, in my estimation, is saying a lot.

And can we all not agree that H. Jon Benjamin is the funniest man on the planet?

The rock opera based on The Metamorphosis is pretty legendary as well.

For some reason, I died when I heard this exchange:

(trying to pay for his meal with an expensive sword)
Coach McGuirk: Hey, My Swords are worth more than all these foods combined.
Clerk: Yes, But we do not accept swords.
Coach McGuirk: Why don't you accept swords?

Again, it may not read funny, but Benjamin has a way of selling a line like no other.

And I need that box!

I already have all the sets and my favorite line is "Why don't you cruci-fucking-fy a guy, for fucking nothing!"

I only had the first two sets, so I sold them off in anticipation of this set. And now I'm in the doldrums because I have to wait until November for this. However, my favorite episodes tend to fall in the 3rd and 4th season, so it's worth it.

Although, not having Fenton's birthday party at my disposal makes me sad. No, you're embarrassing me, Melissa. You're embarrassing me.

This is a good exchange too:

McGuirk: I couldn't get involved with a co-worker. How old are you anyway?
Little Mama: 18.
McGuirk: I could possibly get involved with a co-worker.

Haha, that episode comprised easily the second best part of my friends' attempted (and, honestly, half-assed) intervention on my behalf. The best part was the briefcase they transformed into a sauce-box.

Too bad I already own all the seasons...

My favorite Home Movies episode has to be the one where Jason explains his plans to propose to Melissa over a game of miniature golf.

I'm also a big fan of Baby Pranks.

Because of this show I learned the truth about how Van Gogh lost his ear!

Price is pretty hefty... is there any reason to own this (new extras), beyond the decorative clapboard, etc? The Amazon product description was really thin.

This is one of those shows I thought looked absolutely stupid when it was first on UPN, and then when I re-discovered it on DVD I could not believe how wrong I was.

In your rich bitch dress.

Revised artwork:

We've also learned that there will be pack-in items that are exclusive to this set. Besides all 4 seasons (52 episodes) of the series, this collectible package includes "a branded director’s clapboard and canvas tote bag, both available nowhere else".

Can't say I give a damn about the tote bag or clapboard, but I do still like the price point for this set - $10 less than the MRSP of buying all 4 sets individually. Still hoping that there are more extras than currently available, though, rather than just repackaging the current material.

But at Amazon, this new set is a disappointing 10% off at preorder, while individual seasons can occasionally be had 2-for-1 or otherwise cheap.

Maybe I'll just buy all 4 off some sucker who needs to get rid of them so he can get his clapboard and tote.

Just because it's only 10% off for preorder at Amazon doesn't mean that's the cheapest you'll be able to get it for... I don't really understand that logic. Wait until Borders has a 40% off box set sale and buy it from there, buy it during the November DD sale (they usually have hefty discounts on Shout! Factory stuff)... there are a lot of options for buying something that aren't preordering it at Amazon.

I understand that. I'm only going by one of the few (if only) stores to have listed the set yet, in terms of setting expectations. I'll probably be waiting for the biannual DVD Planet sale, unless a major retailer has a significant opening week sale on it.

But what I'm saying is that Amazon's current price is no barometer for how much you'll actually have to pay for it. Anyone who buys any DVD for less than [at least] 30% off MSRP is cheating themselves.

Of course, but what it might demonstrate (since we don't yet have a number of other listings to compare to) is that Shout's distributor price on this set isn't all that low, hence the lack of a serious markdown.

It's all speculation at this point.

Borders + rewards coupons = distributor price doesn't matter worth a damn.

Love Home Movies; had no idea about the new set. I do own all four seasons already, but one of them is missing a disc...

Heavy discount on DD... so put yourself in my position for a moment... do you preorder this now, or wait until the November 20% off sale and just hope it stays at this price until then?

I believe when the complete Dr. Katz came out, it had a similar list price/DD price, but it was released in November so who knows if this one will stay that way or not
