A film by Jean-Luc Godard
Bande à part (The Outsiders), Godard's playful reimagining of the Hollywood crime films of the 1940s, follows Franz and Arthur (Sami Frey and Claude Brasseur), a couple of young misfits who team up with the shy Odile (Anna Karina), and whose plans to burgle a rich old lady go tragicomically wrong.
Shot in just 25 days on the wintery streets of suburban Paris, Bande à part remains one of Godard most loved films, and is often remembered for its exhilarating café dance sequence and famous race through the Louvre.

Re: Bande à part
Congrats on the Adrian Martin commentary, he's provided some of my favorite Godard commentaries with his work on Madman's Masculin Feminin and especially Le gai savoir. Guess I'm double dipping again!
Re: Bande à part
Man - this indeed seems worth the double dip. Michael, any clue to what the Easter egg could be??

Re: Bande à part
Could it be the Tarantino clip originally mentioned in the early specs?
Looks like another packed release...looking forward to it!

Re: Bande à part
I don't want to spoil the surprise, but it's not anything to do with Tarantino. Mainly because it's not just a clip - it's a substantial additional extra.

Re: Bande à part
So does this mean the "Comprehensive interactive A-Z guide including a specially commissioned video interview with Anna Karina, Quentin Tarantino on the dance sequence, clips, stills, on-set footage and commentary by Dr Roland-Francois Lack, lecturer in the Department of French at University College London" was dropped? Because it doesn't seem to be listed in the full specs.

Re: Bande à part
4 hours of extras plus a full commentary makes this the most stacked of "Bande a part" releases on DVD or Blu-ray out there.
But it does seem odd that the 50 minute A-Z documentary was left off, considering that it was on the BFI DVD.

Re: Bande à part
DVD Compare explores the disc in depth - and reveals that the Easter Egg is a 36-minute interview with Anna Karina about Vivre sa vie.
The reason it wasn't included on that disc is because it didn't take place until after it was released - and because it's off-topic with regard to Bande à part, it's been given the Easter Egg treatment here.
