The Best Picture Lists - Discussion and Defenses

Thanks for compiling, it’s been fun revisiting the winners for the project, I think I got about twenty watched for this project and I may well continue it on letterboxd (but not in any sort of marathon, about like this, twenty five a year ish until I have all the bp winners reviewed on there.)

Also to the above, yeah, 1976 is flat out the best year ever for best picture nominees, incredible slate. 1993 and 1964 are probably two others that are the best years.

I finally took a minute to look closely at the results for this, and was halfway through writing a PM haughtily informing the list coordinator that he must have mis-tabulated before realizing that I wrote out my lists but never actually sent them in! This must be the exact feeling all those hundreds of Academy voters who thought they had submitted their #1 votes for Roma must have felt the morning of February 25th, 2019 — speaking of, copious apologies to whomever's Roma vote was orphaned by my failure to submit.

On the other hand, I would have been responsible for The Apartment beating out Best Years, so I'm glad my mistake brought domino some joy.
