Nope it's the thinner case like City Girl and Sunrise (and most US releases).Blood Pie wrote:It looks like the case is the larger typical UK BD case that Une Femme Marie shipped with...can anyone confirm this? I will definitely be getting the MoC edition over the Criterion if only for the awesome artwork.

Re: 92/9 M
I just read the review in the latest issue of Empire and noticed in their part on the disc`s extra`s that they list extra`s that aren`t the blu-ray disc. Does the MoC dvd have more extra`s than the blu-ray (if so, why?)? or is it a misprint on Empire`s part?

I have no idea why EMPIRE printed a load of incorrect information about the extras, but basically, they're quoting the old extras off the 7 year old Eureka edition --- which leads me to believe that they didn't see the new discs at all.
Why anyone would rely on EMPIRE for anything though is beyond me.

I remember one glorious "review" in which they mentioned a booklet essay that I hadn't actually finished writing at the time!

Ok then. I already found it hard to believe that the blu-ray had less extra`s than the dvd.peerpee wrote:I have no idea why EMPIRE printed a load of incorrect information about the extras, but basically, they're quoting the old extras off the 7 year old Eureka edition --- which leads me to believe that they didn't see the new discs at all.
I don`t rely on them, I was just wondering if it was true or that it was a misprint. Why anyone would rely on EMPIRE for anything though is beyond me.

Nick - any enlightenment for us on this one?Bleddyn Williams wrote:Just wondering - will this be similar to the Criterion & MoC Vampyr releases of the other year?
Using same source, but MoC using "hands-off" approach, and Criterion doing additional restoration work - so there would be differences between the two?

We didn't do any additional restoration on the HD master, other than refusing to use grain removal or other filter software in the AVC encoding stage. The HD master was pretty lovely and clean.

Re: 92/9 M
Is the Blu-ray M menu correct? It looks a little unusual that's all. There's the M hand from the cover on the left-hand side with all the text for the menu options on the top third of the right-hand side. That leaves a huge gap encompassing more than the bottom-right quarter of the screen.

If you click on things, text appears in that gap.

Ahh great! That looks fantastic actually. In my excitement I just stuck the film on. Really nice clean menus once again.

Re: 92/9 M
Just got my copy today. This has been one of my most anticipated releases for ages now and the whole package looks predictably fantastic so thanks and well done to everyone involved.
Speaking of the menus I laughed at the Notification Screen that greeted me when I forgot to set my Blu-Ray player to the appropriate region. I think 'Drat!' should be used more often for error notifications

We hate the antiseptic face slap that is "There is a mismatch between disc and player"
Very glad that you were able to do something about it, and weren't just left crying into the box!

I had the same at first. It seems my Limit (Momitsu clone) doesn't reset to Region B when turned to standby after all.effigy105 wrote:Just got my copy today. Great error screen! So does For All Mankind have something similar too?

Re: 92/9 M
I was wondering this myself. Unfortunately, having recently moved, my copy now lies many miles away so I can't check for myself. In any case might I suggest 'Fiddlesticks!' in the (likely) event that Profound Desires of the Gods requires a similar notice?manicsounds wrote:Great error screen! You'll have to license the name from here first.effigy105 wrote: In any case might I suggest 'Fiddlesticks!' in the (likely) event that Profound Desires of the Gods requires a similar notice?

Both FAM and M have "Drat!" -- happy to put "Fiddlesticks!" on a future one. I like it.

Make sure to utilize the Wayne Knight killscreen for your 3-disc release of Jurassic Park. Uh uh uh!

Re: 92/9 M
Received mine today and compared with the Criterion 2-disc DVD. Huge difference in clarity.
The Beaver is in the process of entering "M" into its comparisons - the screenshots are there, and the menus, but the comments are still coming.
While you're waiting, on the same page you can read the interesting comments made back then by Torsten Kaiser as to why the old Eureka DVD looked "edgy" and as if it had edge enhancement applied. He says the limitations of standard def produce these artifacts. Its an interesting read, and infers that the same source used for HD shouldn't have the artifacts. Is this the source of the MoC blu, Nick?

Caps at the Beav look wonderful.
Did anyone ever get to the bottom of why the old Eureka still shows more info on all sides.
