My siblings loved this movie so watched it all the time and we had it on VHS. It admittedly grew on me, but yes it is awful.

Does someone here know if Ridley's THE DUELLISTS will return on bluray in the US? Shout Factory disc is OOP and fetching upwards of $100. It's a Paramount title.

The Plague Dogs is absolutely monumental. One of the greatest films of the 1980's, and its original cut has only been commercially available in a low-quality transfer on an R4 disc from Martin Rosen's 35mm print (which is what screened at the Cinefamily a while back). Hopefully, Shout creates a fresh transfer from an interpositive or the original camera negative. If you haven't seen it, trust me when I say that it's even better than Watership Down.

The UK DVD of The Plague Dogs also includes two cuts of the film.

Had assumed The Plague Dogs would be Criterion. Glad it's coming though, have been wanting to see it for years.

Yes, most of what I read / saw about it was about how it was forcibly advertising for it and so focused on it that it's hard to be taken as a movie at all.

I remember watching it at least once when I was a kid. Maybe as a VHS rental and later on television. I probably enjoyed it too, to be honest. Maybe this was always the case, but it felt like the 80's were ground zero for bad movies and television with the incredibly low aim of being "family entertainment".

Ohhh. Great! I love that cover.

By the way, if you want both cuts of Plague dogs, please let them know in their facebook.
I'm almost sure they will use the short US cut! :(
And it's so severely cut, it's not just 1-2 minutes.

MichaelB would probably have more information than I would but I know for a fact that The Werewolf and the Yeti is one of the infamous Video Nasties. A brief bit of research states that the film has never seen the light of day in the United Kingdom because of this. The info goes on to mention that this one is full of significantly more gore and nudity than the other Naschy films. I don't know anything about UK import laws but I thought I should make this information more widely available to the forum.

If only  Certainly an English-language release with the episodes in the correct order would be a must-buy!

Actually, it's the 1988 cult horror starring Rod Steiger and Yvonne De Carlo.

Shout posted on facebook that they are losing the rights to the Bruce Lee films later this year. The Shout Select releases are the best versions of the films on Blu-ray, so get them while you can.

And yes, that is the Heather Langenkamp who starred in A Nightmare on Elm Street. Her special effects technician husband was also folded into the meta-narrative of Wes Craven's New Nightmare (he appears as the special effects technician in the nightmare sequence at the beginning of that film).
