Is it possible this was a VistaVision production? I seem to recall other VV films getting 6k scans to account for the higher resolution of the film format.

Edit: Yeah, it was Arrow’s edition of Desperate Hours.

6k scans?

Often, it's not "really" 4k scans to obtain a 4k restoration, since once the framing is properly placed over the scanned photograms, the loss of information will give you a final resolution lower than 4k. To compensate, the scans actually are done at a higher resolution, a method called overscanning, so that the final resolution is once the frame is created.
The Lonely Man seems to be 1.85, I suppose the OCN was scanned at 6k so that the 1.85 extraction still is 4k despite the cropping.

Neither of these sold well enough to release on 4K, And Soon the Darkness sold well, Sudden Terror (Eyewitness), less.

But we will continue with this series, if this first one does well.

We will also remove 1970s from the final art, so we can include titles from the 60s and 80s.

Generally speaking the newer episodes are not as beloved as the original run is but there are, to my knowledge, a couple diamonds in the rough so I’d recommend giving it a chance (except No Time to Die which is not regarded very well).

It's been a while since I've seen any of them, but if you liked the 70's ones, I think you'd enjoy these as well. Not as good overall but still has the same charms. I recall really liking the ones with Faye Dunaway and Dabney Coleman.

It actually makes me nostalgic to remember when John Travolta was an A-list star who could carry a well-reviewed film AND make easy bank at the box office. Not one of the "well-reviewed" ones, but IIRC it was a hit.

So the Kino insider confirmed that all the episodes of this are going to be 1.78. Which is the wrong aspect ratio for all but the last three episodes, which are correctly presented at 1.78. All but the last three should be 4:3.
