I can double-check, but iirc Amazon has digital versions of Going and Canterbury that are both in HD..
IKWIG is a masterpiece and probably my favorite Powell & Pressburger, too

Re: 94 I Know Where I'm Going!
I’m currently on holiday on Mull, and thought there might be some interest in a few pictures I’ve taken of locations from the film. It seemed right to post them in black and white.

Now I want to:
a) go to Mull
b) have a copy of I Know Where I'm Going! that looks as good as reaky's photos.

Nothing more elaborate than an iPhone SE. Mull is just that photogenic.mr_scratchy_esq wrote:Those pics are great. What camera are you using?

Re: 94 I Know Where I'm Going!
Mull is almost entirely served with only single-track roads, so that’s probably staved off development.starmanof51 wrote:Thanks for that, Reaky. Looks like time stood still.
IKWIG still exerts a strong pull, though. The narrow roads mean you frequently have to pull over to let other cars pass, and as I stopped at the waterfall phonebox, the mother and daughter in the other car asked me for directions to the Carsaig pier. After pointing the way, I said knowingly, “I know where I’m going.” “And I know who’s going with me,” replied mum, smiling.

Thank you for sharing those, reaky. Excellent photos that really transport you to another time. (note to self: mark Mull as a future filming location)

Reaky is my vote for Poster Of The Year, based on these images, related to this film. Wonderful. Thanks.

Is the poster for the film still in the foyer of the hotel? I have a photo of my wife sitting on the capstan at Carsaig à la Wendy Hillier

Not in the foyer, but to the side, next to the Kiloran room.

Got talking to someone who agreed that the vintage lavatory looks like that in The Shining’s Overlook.
Re: 94 I Know Where I'm Going!
Last night at the Wexner Center Restoration round-table with Margaret Bodde and Grover Crisp, she 100% confirmed that Criterion was working with the Film Foundation to get their restored version released. She stated that it had been a two-year project and was nearing the end of that cycle. She did not confirm a release date but stated from past experience that it is always Criterion that chooses the release dates and does not always coordinate with the Film Foundation in advance on that. She did not discuss any special features or go into the technical aspects of the restoration. Interestingly, Sony's Crisp was on stage with her at that time of this announcement and although did not make any remarks appearing to say his studio had been part of the release, he did comment that he is looking forward to more Powell/Pressburgers being released, as they are a good return on investment. Take that final off-the-cuff remark as it lays, since no one else in the roundtable responded to his comments to say if Criterion was working actively on any other Powell/Pressburgers.
